About This Article
Africa’s rapidly growing creative economy is producing a new generation of technology companies spanning digital media, gaming, music, film, animation, creator platforms and artificial intelligence.
The United Nations Development Programme’s timbuktoo CreativeTech Launchpad is designed to help those companies grow.
Through the timbuktoo Creatives Hub in South Africa, UNDP is inviting CreativeTech startups from across Africa to join a pan-African incubation ecosystem that connects founders with mentors, incubators, investors, technology resources and business-development support.
More Than a Traditional Creator ProgramThis opportunity is particularly relevant because it sits at the intersection of technology and the creative economy.
Eligible businesses can include companies developing solutions for:
- Digital content creation
- Creator-economy platforms
- Gaming
- Music
- Film
- Animation

- Other technology-driven creative businesses
This means the program could be relevant not only to traditional technology startups, but also to founders building software, marketplaces, platforms and infrastructure for creators and digital-media businesses.

UNDP also specifically encourages applications from women-led businesses, young entrepreneurs, and founders from underserved communities.

That makes the program worth considering even for founders who may not yet be ready to apply immediately.
