About This Article

The AI Slop Film Festival is accepting submissions for Season 2, scheduled for January 23, 2027 at Rumiversal Studio in Toronto. The festival focuses on filmmaking that treats artificial intelligence as a creative medium and welcomes everything from polished AI cinema to experimental, meme-inspired and deliberately unconventional work.

Filmmakers may submit narrative projects, animation, documentaries, experimental films, meme-based creations and hybrid productions. AI must play a meaningful role in the creative process, but the festival does not impose a strict runtime limit, allowing both shorts and feature-length projects to be considered.

Entries compete for recognition in categories including Best AI Film, Best Generative Short, Best AI Animation, Best Human x Machine Collaboration, Best Meme Cinema, Visual Glitch Award, Slop of the Year, Future Prompt Award and Audience Signal Award.

Creators must disclose how AI was used in the project and retain the necessary rights to their submitted materials. Films completed in 2023 or later are eligible, and non-English projects must include English subtitles.

Eligibility / Who Can Apply

Films must have been completed in 2023 or later and must meaningfully involve AI tools in the creative process. Narrative films, animation, documentaries, experimental work, meme-based films and hybrid productions are accepted. There is no strict runtime limit, and both short-form and feature-length projects may be submitted.
