As a comedic actor, he has held up and represented himself in fine fashion. Older folks know him better as “Maama-Man” which he has played for two years but the younger folk know him as “Bashy”. He has served over 40 years on the Jamaican stage, contributing to the development of Jamaican theatre. Grant has played hit roles in Paul Beale’s “Maama-Man”, the Stages Productions monster hit “Bashment Granny & Bashment Granny 2”, as well as other notable hit plays such as “Serious Business”, “Like Father Like Son”, “Driver”, “Wedding Scammer”, “Passa Passa” and “Maama Man”. With a career far exceeding the lifetime of many of those currently practicing theatre, Maxwell has not only managed to serve for this time, but has also managed to transcend time barriers and remain relevant in present day. Based on what he says was a lack of respect locally and parting with Stages Production, he took his craft to the United States. Where he has done productions like Delilah Meets Granny and Barbershop Bangarang. Now on his return to Jamaica he has signed with Jamstage Productions and is now gearing up to do their debut production “Bad Breed”. Maxwell doesn’t plan to retire any time soon. He is happily married and the proud father of three.
