The Jamaica Social Stock Exchange (JSSE), a Jamaica-based platform founded to assist Social Sector Organizations (SSOs) to attract long term funding to make their projects sustainable, announced today the launch of the Social Good Campaign, a multimedia initiative founded specifically to identify and promote individuals, SSOs, and businesses committed to improving the quality of life for others at a community, local, state, national, or even global level.
According to Dr. Marlene Street Forrest, Managing Director of the Jamaica Stock Exchange ( JSE), “The JSSE ensures that “socially responsible investor(s)”, people interested in contributing and improving the quality of life in Jamaica, are enabled to invest in wholesome projects that require public funding and by extension promote the economic, social, -cultural areas of the economy and the protection of the physical environment.”
Anchored by the Social Good Directory, the Social Good Campaign seeks to “primarily showcase SSOs and projects currently listed on the JSSE ”, adds Nora M. Blake, Manager of the JSSE.
It was created in response to funding requests made by JSSE listed Projects and special appeal Social Projects that have sought assistance. It will broaden the international reach of the projects.
The Social Good Directory will also list private companies, academia, social entrepreneurs, social investors, ngos and media that create content and, or manage initiatives that support all the areas of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with focus on education, health, finance to facilitate wealth and job creation , the businesses of Jamaican Entrepreneurs with a social mission, locally and in the Jamaican diaspora and those that love the Jamaican lifestyle with its unique cultural and creative offerings.
