The Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) & its affiliate Jamaica Social Stock Exchange (JSSE) has joined with Father Ho Lung and the Brothers of the Missionaries of the Poor (MOP) to assist in restoring the Good Shepherd Home which was recently destroyed by fire on the night of August, 27th, 2019. 

GOAL OF PROJECT:

The goal is to raise a significant portion of the Thirty-One Million, Three Hundred and Ten Thousand ($31,310,000), towards meeting some the most urgent needs for the rebuilding of this Shelter for the Homeless.

Whilst the JSE is about Wealth Creation through mobilization of capital for businesses and having been ranked by Bloomberg as the Best Performing Stock Exchange in 2018, following on a similar 2015 ranking; the JSSE in a similar fashion was designed to mobilize capital for Jamaica’s Social Sector, with the belief that- Economic & Social Inclusion, Equity and Compassion for the weak and disabled, is good for business. 

So with a deepening social consciousness taking place in Jamaicans, the JSSE was set up to facilitate the market meeting the needs of the social sector. 

As a response to the direct appeal from Father Ho Lung to the JSE, a Board resolution mandated the JSSE, to engage with MOP, and seek to mobilize funds from Corporate entities listed on the JSE as well as Broker members and the public at large, along with the JSE Group’s own significant financial contribution. 
So whilst funding for the other Projects on the Social Exchange is still being sought, the JSSE is also responding to this emergency.
 
The JSSE therefore is making a special appeal on behalf of the MOP & Father Ho Lung, in response to this Emergency need for the homeless in our society. 

Father Ho Lung himself has this to say “GOD HAS ALWAYS SENT US DONORS TO HELP JAMAICA’S POOR IN TIMES OF TRIALS AND DIFFICULTIES OVER ALL OF OUR 40 YEARS. THE LORD HEARS THE CRY OF THE POOR”.
