Canada House on Trafalgar Square is set once again celebrate the best in new Canadian fashion design ahead of London Fashion Week (LFW FW19) with a platform focused on women’s wear and accessories.
The High Commission of Canada in the United Kingdom is delighted to continue its partnership with the world’s original fashion incubator, the Toronto Fashion Incubator (TFI), the City of Toronto and the Canada-UK Foundation to bring key Canadian designers to London. The designers selected for this season include two Indigenous designers along with a strong focus on innovative and sustainable materials. While this event marks an exciting new entrée to the UK for some of Canada’s most talked about designers, for others it is a return visit to one of the world’s true fashion capitals.
Featured designers were selected by a panel of distinguished industry experts including the former fashion director of the Daily Telegraph Hilary Alexander OBE, designer Todd Lynn and fashion journalist and buying consultant Elisa Anniss.
The celebration of Canadian fashion design will take place the evening of 14th February 2019 at Canada House from 6:00 to 8:30pm. Retailers, sales agents and media are invited to browse these exciting FW collections and meet with the designers. Showroom bookings are also available from 10:00 to 2:00pm on the 15th of February. All participants must be pre-registered for both the evening event and the showroom bookings.
“Canadian designers are clearly inspired by the diversity of modern Canada and have so much talent to offer to the ever-evolving world of fashion. The team at Canada House is delighted to be working with the Toronto Fashion Incubator once again to showcase their work in the UK,” says Her Excellency Mrs. Janice Charette, High Commissioner of Canada to the United Kingdom.
"We’re extremely grateful to be returning to London for our third consecutive season highlighting Canadian fashion designers,” says TFI Executive Director, Susan Langdon. “Our London Fashion Week event would not be possible without the continued support of the High Commission of Canada in the United Kingdom, City of Toronto and Canada-UK Foundation.
It’s also wonderful to receive support from all of the fashion industry notables who participated in our judging panel this season. Their input and feedback on the juried collections was invaluable.”
