Its goal is to help creators grow their audience, increase monetization, and professionalize their content operations over a six‑month period.

  • Amount: Up to CAD $20,000 per applicant.

What Can Be Funded

  • Purchase of equipment (limited to a maximum percentage of total costs, typically around 20%).

  • Marketing/business growth: social media management, marketing/branding consultants, promotion, etc.

  • Legal / accounting fees, software subscriptions.

There are some costs that are not eligible (or are only partially eligible), for example large capital expenditures like purchasing real estate.


Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for DCPP, you’ll need to meet several requirements:

  1. Canadian status & ownership

    • Content must be owned, meaning the underlying rights are Canadian, significantly developed by Canadians.

    • Produced in Canada, with at least 75% of eligible costs being Canadian costs.

    • The applicant must maintain Canadian ownership and control (creative, executive, financial).

  2. Applicant track record

    • You need to have been active on at least one eligible platform (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok or Facebook) for at least the past 12 months.

    • Posting frequency: an average of at least one post per month over that period.

    • Must meet a minimum threshold of audience engagement, which differs depending on whether your content is in English or French.

  3. Corporate structure

    • While individuals (creators) can apply, in order to receive the funding, the recipient must have or establish a Canadian for‑profit corporation controlled by Canadians.

  4. Content type

    • The content must be original, prepared and edited, intended for consumption on social media.

    • It must align with certain generalized genres: drama (including comedy), documentary (excluding certain formats like rants, opinion‑only content), children or youth content, or variety/performing arts.

  • CMF offers webinars and resources to help applicants understand the requirements.
