Two of us run a mobile nail studio from a converted van. We travel to clients’ homes and offices and, on weekends, often work with bridal parties in hotel suites. During our first year, marketing was something we squeezed in whenever a cancellation left us with a free hour. Bookings were unpredictable, and we could never tell whether a quiet week meant demand was down or we had simply stopped reminding people that we existed.

Creating a fixed weekly content routine changed that more than any single promotion ever did.
The routine has just four slots:
- Monday — Results: One completed nail set, three photos, and two short sentences explaining what the client requested and what we ultimately recommended.
- Wednesday — Care: An answer to a real question a client asked that week, such as how long a builder gel overlay should last for someone working in a commercial kitchen.
- Friday — Availability: A logistics post explaining where the van will be operating and which appointment slots are still available.
- Sunday — Behind the scenes: A short update about restocking supplies, a new colour we ordered, equipment, or a training course one of us is taking.
That is it: four posts per week, requiring roughly ninety minutes in total. We block the time in our calendar exactly as we would a client appointment.
Photography used to be the part that broke the routine. When you are working in a client’s kitchen, the lighting may be yellow, the background may include a dish rack, and there is rarely time to stage an elaborate photo.
Our solution was to standardize the capture process rather than worry about elaborate styling. We use a small folding mat in neutral grey, a clip-on diffuser, and a simple rule: photograph every completed set from the same three angles.

Consistent inputs make the editing process almost mechanical afterward—and mechanical tasks are the ones that still get completed at eight o’clock in the evening.
We also needed visuals for posts that were not based on client work, and this is where many small studios quietly lose momentum. Seasonal banners, colour-trend illustrations, promotional graphics, and backgrounds for price lists rarely justify organizing a dedicated photoshoot. Stock-photo libraries can also make it difficult to find something that matches a very specific palette or concept.
For those purposes, we generate supporting visuals from a written description using an AI image generator. We then crop the generated images into the same square and vertical formats we use for our photography so the overall feed still feels like it belongs to one brand.
There is an important distinction, however: client work is always represented by real photography. AI-generated artwork is used only for decorative, conceptual, seasonal, or explanatory graphics, and we disclose that when it may not be obvious.
The other discipline worth copying is what we call the answer file.
Every question a client asks while sitting in the chair gets typed into a single note on one of our phones before we leave the driveway. Over time, that simple note becomes a constantly growing list of content ideas based on questions real customers are already asking.
Instead of sitting down every week and wondering, “What should we post?”, we already have the answer.
We simply turn the questions our clients are asking into useful content for the next clients who are likely wondering exactly the same thing.
