LaunchYU @ York University is hiring a Marketing and Events Coordinator to support the print and digital marketing efforts and event coordination for entrepreneurship, commercialization, knowledge mobilization and industry liaison activities within Innovation York.
The successful candidate will:
- work with Innovation York staff to develop and disseminate content relating to success stories, upcoming events, and programming;
- support between 40 and 50 events annually (Events shall vary from industry-academic networking, to entrepreneurship workshops, to celebrations, and startup weekends);
- work with York University staff and also external organizations to coordinate and deliver these events;
- oversee and coordinate the related social media accounts and websites;
- assist with developing marketing strategies to promote the brand of Innovation York and LaunchYU.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years demonstrated experience in communications and marketing including maintaining the program's web presence and social media interactions, developing marketing write-ups and materials, assistance in event planning and related marketing and logistics, experience with Content Management Systems (CMSs) and related internet traffic analysis.
Skills:
Excellent communicator and creative thinker; Excellent marketing writing skills in English; Knowledge and demonstrated experience navigating the web, updating websites using a CMS system (WordPress preferred), and creating and sending bulk emails using a CRM., Demonstrated ability to strategically use social media for community development. Knowledge of entrepreneurial lifecycle & experience working with entrepreneurs an asset. Knowledge about University commercialization and university based entrepreneurship programs preferred. Experience with graphics design and photo editing. Dealing courteously and effectively with people at all levels, answering inquiries in an informative and tactful manner; ability to juggle competing demands or conflicting priorities; proven ability to work under high volume pressure; meeting short/long term deadlines; ability to work independently; good analytical and organizational skills; exercising good judgment and initiative; excellent project management skills; attending accurately to details; willingness to learn new computer systems.
Salary: Annual salary of $57,025 will be prorated based on the number of weeks worked.
Duration: Limited Term Full-Time
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.
This position requires the successful candidate be willing and able to travel within the GTA to meetings and events.
