Reporting to the Director, Innovation York, the Commercialization Manager will be a key member of Innovation York, the innovation unit within the Division of the Vice-President, Research & Innovation (VPRI) at York University and more specifically will be the commercialization lead for VISTA, the Vision: Science to Applications program.
The Commercialization Manager will be required to advance academic intellectual property commercialization, by mining for intellectual property, evaluating the patentability and commercial viability of the intellectual property, creating commercialization / business plans, assisting with commercialization funding opportunities, finding strategic industry partners, and leading commercialization plan implementation through licensing, startup company creation or alternative commercialization models for VISTA.
The Commercialization Manager will develop ongoing relationships with members of VISTA, in order to support and enhance the commercialization opportunities and outcomes, as well as the industry liaison activities of the program.
In addition, the Commercialization Manager will also foster faculty and student entrepreneurship at York, by working strategically with the Entrepreneurship Manager to support ventures graduating from the LaunchYU program that are associated with VISTA and directing faculty and student entrepreneurs who wish to receive entrepreneurial support to the program.
