Are you hungry? What are you making for dinner? What about a tasty dish by Devon Eats that includes Curry Chicken or "Curried Chicken" for the intellectually superior, Fried Plantains and Avacado Salad.

CURRY CHICKEN:

Curry Chicken is a dish originating from the Indian subcontinent, common delicacy in the cuisine of the Indian subcontinent, cuisine of Southeast Asia, as well as in the cuisine of the Caribbean. A typical curry from the Indian subcontinent consists of chicken stewed in an onion- and tomato-based sauce, flavored with ginger, garlic, tomato puree, chili peppers and a variety of spices, often including turmeric, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, cardamom and so on. Outside South Asia, chicken curry is often made with a pre-made spice mixture known as curry powder.

FRIED PLAINTAIN:

Fried plantain is a dish cooked wherever plantains grow, from West Africa to East Africa as well as Central and South America and the Caribbean and in many parts of Southeast Asia, where fried snacks (called gorengan) are widely popular. It is called alloco in Côte d'Ivoire and dodo in Western Nigeria otherwise known as simply fried plantain in other parts of Nigeria. Kelewele is a fried spicy plantain or can be fried as a side dish for Red Red bean and fish stew in Ghana.

Fried plantain is also eaten in some countries in South America or the Caribbean where African influence is present. For example, in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, it is common to cut plantains in slices, fry them until they are yellow, smash them between two plates and fry them again. This is also a common dish in Haiti, referred to as "bannann peze", and throughout Central America, referred to as patacones in Costa Rica, Panama, and Colombia, and as tostones in Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Puerto Rico. In Honduras and Venezuela they are referred to as "tajadas".

AVACADO SALAD:

Avocado salad is a rural avocado salad, with lemon juice and chopped scallions (spring onions) with salt and black pepper added, was introduced by farmers who planted avocado trees on the coastal plain in the 1920s.[1] Avocados have since become a winter delicacy and are cut into salads as well as being spread on bread.

Tonight’s Menu: Devon Eats Dinner

Curried Chicken, Fried Plantains, and Avocado Salad—a delicious, balanced trio that’s both satisfying and nutritious.

  • Curried Chicken
A vibrant Caribbean adaptation of South Asian curry, this dish features chicken stewed in a rich onion-and-tomato sauce, infused with spices like turmeric, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, cardamom—and often simpler curry powder versions outside South Asia.

  • Fried Plantains
A beloved staple across tropical regions, these golden slices deliver natural sweetness and satisfying texture. Known by different names—dodo in West Africa, bannann peze in Haiti, tostones in Central America—the Jamaican version complements savory mains beautifully.

  • Avocado Salad
A refreshing side: ripe avocado with lemon juice, scallions, salt, and pepper. Simple but bursting with healthy fats and cooling flavor—a lovely foil to spicy Curried Chicken.
